Sam Whiting

Until August 2023, Sam Whiting worked at the Boeing Company, where he was responsible for developing and executing philanthropy and community engagement strategies across the western US. Sam also led STEM education and workforce strategies enterprise-wide, including creating Boeing’s signature STEM education program, FUTURE U.

Previously, Sam held nonprofit leadership roles as president and CEO of Thrive Washington, director of foundation projects for Seattle Foundation, executive director of Page Ahead, a children’s literacy nonprofit, and several leadership positions in the arts and human services.

A lifelong volunteer, Sam has served on the boards of many community organizations, including Seattle Art Museum, Three Dollar Bill Cinema and United Way of King County. Sam completed his doctoral coursework in educational leadership and received a master’s in nonprofit leadership, both at Seattle University. He lives in Palm Springs with his partner Perry, and suffers from too infrequent visits from his grandkids.
